Skagit Speedway
Alger WA The weekend before Skagit Speedway's Dirt Cup has been known as 'The Dirt Cup Tune Up Race'; That is until now. Track owner Steve Beitler recently announced the event will be renamed 'The Prelude to Dirt Cup'.
"This event has changed over the years" stated Beitler, "It was once a chance for teams that don't compete regularly in the 410 division to get a night in before the Dirt Cup to shake down their cars. That's just not the case anymore."
This year with the addition of the Western Speedweeks the 410 class has been dropped from the schedule the week before the Dirt Cup. This will allow our teams to travel and support the other tracks on speedweeks. The local fans will be treated to a great evening of racing with the 360 Sprints, the Sportsman Sprints and the Outlaw Hornets. A fourth class may be added by event time. The 360 sprint class will race for additional money at the June 12th Prelude to Dirt Cup event. The winner will pocket $1500 and last place will be a minimum $200.
"This event really kicks off the Dirt Cup week for our area" stated Beitler, "We want to get a branding for this weekend that really says what we are doing. The 'Prelude to Dirt Cup' sends the message we want our fans to hear, It's time for Dirt Cup!"
